Letterpress printing is also known as relief printing. It is a process of printing in which an impression is created on any required surface with the help of the ink. The paper that must be printed is placed on a raised surface. Usually, the paper is in the form of a continuous roll. There are people who are trained to take up this task. T process starts with placing the dye securely. The stencils are then inked and pressed against the paper. Once the paper gets pressed the text that is already inked transfers onto it.

There are several ways of doing this printing. These include zinc plates, wooden engraves, metal plates and even the linoleum blocks. The hot metal settings are in practice that is used for bringing together the movable type. Custom label stickers printing are also becoming popular. The letterpress printing was introduced by Johaness Gutenberg in the mid-fifteenth century. The technology started changing its shape from what it was in the early years back in the 19th century. Till the 20th century, it was the major process used for printing the books. with the passage of time and after the introduction of better technology revolution was also witnessed in the letterpress printing. It was used for more services other than books that required printing. The value of the letterpress printing remained unchallenged until in 20th century the offset printing was introduced. Letterpress printing has always been an important thing in our lives. We cannot see any field of life going unaffected by the said. The recent form of letterpress printing is the artisanal type.

The credit for introducing the letterpress printing NYC goes to the great man Johannes Gutenberg. He introduced the first-ever movable typing printing machine to the western world. Although it was much later than the actual invention of the said in China but still, it was a great thing for the western world making their lives easy. He also came up with an innovative wooden printing press that made use of the leather-covered ink balls. The paper was adjusted manually, and the text was printed by exerting pressure with the help of a tightening screw. The later printers associated this with the pioneer, and it is still known as the Gutenberg’s screw press in the world of printing. He started printing a copy of the Bible with this unique press.

With the passage of time, things became easy. Technology changed the nature of the letterpress printing making it swift and less time-consuming. The printing was also refined in terms of the appearance and the outlook.
